Clearweed likes to grow around an abundance of water. It is a true weed in that it will occupy the continually disturbed areas of waterways and grows quickly when the competition is down. It is easily over-run by more hardy and aggressive species if they are given a chance. It is tolerant to somewhat violent storm-flooding and can be often found in the drainage streams running into the Wissahickon in Fairmount Park, especially those prone to continual reconstruction by storms. The pictures in this sequence were all taken in the stream-bed of Bells Mill Creek during July of 2017.
